High Stakes Kids Fishing Derby

We took a break from our normal routine and decided to lend a hand at a local Kids Fishing Derby in the suburbs west of Chicago. Kids Fishing tournaments and derbies like this are how many of us got our first taste of competitive fishing and were an important learning experience for us as young anglers. For many of these kids, this was the first experience actually catching a fish and you can see on their faces how that turned out.

It's important to pay it forward and continue the cycle that many of us now that we are older, may take for granted. A fun day, with a fun vibe and all the kids took with them a great experience on top of the prizes donated by our friend Scott. He's been running this derby for 5 years now out of his own time and funds so he's the real MVP.

What a great way to keep youth off the streets and show them what Mother Nature has to offer. Gives all a piece of mind. 🙏🏼

A lot of fun every year and I was lucky enough to pull in a 18 in bass for 3rd place and a brand new rod this year. Big thanks to Scott for continuing to host this annual fishing derby and can’t wait for next year
