Lyrics

The weight of the world is resting on thin ice. When the surface breaks will I find paradise? As I freeze to death, left to reflect, what a waste of time I was, in retrospect. I’d take a leap of faith, but I’d lose my nerve. In the end, I’ll get the hell that I deserve. I’m always gone with the wind. Crawling in and out of my mind. God knows, I lost all my faith. A sickness with no remedy, except the ones inside of me. You ever wonder how deep you can sink into nothing at all? Disintegrate. Annihilate me. Do you remember when you said to me, “My friend, hope is a prison.”? Of all the patterns that I could create, I built a labyrinth with no escape. To keep my ‘self’ under lock and key. I am my own worst enemy. A sickness with no remedy, except the ones inside of me. You ever wonder how deep you can sink into nothing at all? Disintegrate. Annihilate me. If I could silence all the doubt in me, accept that what is meant to be, is meant to be. You ever wonder how deep you can sink into nothing at all? Disintegrate. Annihilate me.

honestly, this song is so sad. so many bands from this scene talk about how they want to die and how depression makes them suicidal but a man who writes a song knowing he is going to die is something that makes this an incredibly sad and emotional band. ever since Tom died a new meaning came to every song they ever wrote.

Stage 4 melanoma (a sickness with no remedy), your white blood cells are the final line of defence to defeat the cancer (except the ones inside of me). He went into this album knowing this was going to be his last. His swan song, momento mori has definitely made me more mindful of death. My goodness. Tom you were/are a fucking legend, no one in this industry could ever replace you nor top your works, status and strength as an artist. Your guitar work has inspired me since "Ruin" and having found out years before that you write most of the lyrics on the songs we now know as the classics of Architects, your words have deeply touched and changed my life (donating to sea shepherd, awareness of animal rights, being more empathetic, writing better riffs) and I will always be eternally grateful for that. Rest in peace, wish I could have sat down and had a chat with you mate <3 Love you guys at Architects!

"If I could silence all the doubt in me, accept that what is meant to be, is meant to be." That quote...RIP.
  • In the aftermath of Searle's passing, suddenly a lot of the themes in this song make sense... I am genuinely both unnerved and moved by this.

< A sickness with no remedy, except the ones inside of me. You ever wonder how deep you can sink into nothing at all? Disintegrate. Annihilate me . If I could silence all the doubt in me , accept that what is meant to be, is meant to be. You ever wonder how deep you can sink into nothing at all? Disintegrate. Annihilate me. > These lyrics weren't written out of nowhere. They saw it coming. It makes so much sense today. So much. Man this is too sad. Too much sadness. Gone with the wind but never will you be forgotten. Till we meet again Tom.

I met Tom once. Sam had just joined and they had just released 'Ruin'. Rock Sound magazine gave it 6/10 and Tom was so down, he doubted they would ever make it. Look how far you and your friends came brother, you were a big if not the biggest part of this success, RIP Tom

4 years now since the legend that is Tom Searle passed away. Had to come back here. I hope Tom is resting easy and in peace.

R.I.P. Tom Searle I feel so guilty right now after hearing about both yours and Matt from 3 Doors Down's passings

I honestly wish Sam would sing more. His harshes are amazing but he sings with such passion, always leaves me wanting more.
  • To think that a human being could be as depressed as Tom was. He just poured it all into his music, and I can hear every bit of it. It sucks to see such a bright soul in such a dark world leave. It's people like that who give hope to the world.
  • I have an incredibly rare genetic disorder that has affected my life greatly. And with no real fix or cure besides experimental surgery it has left me void of many experiences. Im 26 now, and music like this heavily resonates with me. Finally feels like Im not alone in my seemingly hopeless fight. And even as the pain worsens I won't ever give up, not when I have motivation like this to listen to. Thank you Architects, Hyped for the new Album!
  • only metalcore band that has improved their sound without leaving the genre... fucking love this band!
  • @deadendyouthx3
My beloved late partner showed me song years ago. I’m forever grateful for all the music he shared with me while he was here. This band was one of his favorites, his memory will forever live on in these songs. Thank you for writing such impactful music for the world to resonate with. Until we meet again my love 🌹🖤💋 Rest In Peace Christopher Alan Moss 88-22

My father died a few days ago from covid. This song is in my head and it doesn't want to go out ...

Can we all admire how big of a badass Tom Is for being in this video and writing the lyrics? What a brave soul to know he was going… still following his dreams till the end. I have chills watching him playing in this video… Thank you Architects…
