【Cytus】Knight of Firmament（带歌词）

After 8 Years, This Song Is Still A Masterpiece.

Cytus 1 was a masterpiece as a whole. So many memorable songs.

The story of Chapter K follows the initial friendship of two girls, the princesses Rosabel and Iris. Calamity strikes when Rosabel’s family is murdered, forcing her to ascend to the throne. Things only get worse when she finds an ancient grimoire which corrupts and twists everything she once was. At this point in the chapter we are presented with the two “character songs”. Iris sings of passionately dedicating her life, sword and shield if it meant that they could be together like in the past. But now she does not recognize the person Rosabel has become, resigning herself to using her sword to show Rosabel that the world is not as grim as she makes it seem (translation here). On the other hand, Rosabel sings of locking away her old innocence and manifesting herself as a cold, ruthless, and thorn-covered rose. She is willing to commit cruel acts because this dark nobility is in her blood and she will use it if it meant that she could return things to the way things were (Japanese lyrics | Chinese lyrics in CC | English currently unavailable). As tragedies go, the girls presumably bid farewell to each other and their friendship as they prepare to fight each other. In the duet, [~The Fallen Bloom {The Duel}~], the girls meet for the last time (translation here). The results of the duel are grim as it is the only song in the chapter to feature a cutscene when played for the first time, assuming the player has completed all the songs prior. It depicts Iris finishing off a defeated Rosabel. Upon completing this song however, the player can unlock one more, which depicts the rising sun as Iris looks up from the aftermath of the battle holding two swords. Fittingly, the song is titled [~Where You Are Not {Curtain Fall}~]. And here is where the story of the Holy Knight ends. However, completing this song unlocks the true final song of the chapter, which is an alternate ending of the events that passed, where Iris and Rosabel may have remained as friends. ————- Added note: The jury’s still out on whether Iris was the princess of another kingdom or an orphan raised by the church (as the song [~The Sanctuary {Blessings}~] is ambiguous). It is also unclear whether Rosabel found the grimoire on her own or whether someone presented it to her as a means of corruption. Some also see the final song as Iris trying to imagine a world where she could have stayed friends with Rosabel in order to cope with killing her (thus maintaining continuity). from it's rightful owners!
