The Thunderhawk is cool and all, but I'm almost more jealous that you have people there to help you! This lockdown has been LONELY. Penny hates building things and my dog is really bad at it.

GW: look it costs $400, most of the pieces are bent and some of them dont fit together properly because they shrunk. youll figure it out though if you really want it
  • man the build up to what the model actually was was disappointing as hell. "whoah it wasnt meant to be sold, its the most difficult and expensive thing to build!" And you end up with an all metal generic Star Wars ship with some WH40k greebling.
  • Can’t help but feel like this is the kind of project you solder together rather than glue 😂
  • @jasonhorne4414
You could have soldered it together , model locomotive kits are often made of white metal and soldered with low melt solder , this is nice and strong
  • Imagine accidentally knocking that over while playing and creating a crater in the floor of your buddy’s place

Hello Squidmar, interesting video, some background on the Thunderhawk, it was part as you know of the full chapter project GW did for Games day, (originally conceived by John Stallard) elements of the whole of GW contributed. The Factory assisted by designing the Thunderhawk and Tim was the primary sculptor. We made three originally but they were not intended for general release. However Tom Kirby the then CEO/ General Manager asked us to make it a unique product, wooden box, burnt/ embossed wording etc. The Ownership document has a version of my signature as a certificate of authenticity, the model was designed to be built from the inside out, you may have noticed the holes in the internal frames, these have the brass rods passed through to give strength, then the side panels are added and so on. There were at approximately 500 made but I do not know the exact amount as I moved on after founding Forgeworld. The Aquila were existing GW badges re-purposed, both for the model and box. The internal details were based on Jaguar and F15 details

Man, I've met a few people who are nostalgic for the days of metal models, but damn, I do not miss having to file, sand, pin, and gap-fill models that had poor fits. I started having PTSD.
  • @LawDaddy1700
Get him to 20k likes I wanna see him struggle with a manta 😂😂
  • @Swiftsword-
I don't play 40k, I don't paint anything, heck dont even own any minis but. I really like you channel and find myself watching more and more. Bra jobbat Emil! Keep up the good work!
  • @jessl1934
It's very considerate of them that they didn't leave any of the casting to you to do.
  • @keios
An old friend of mine got one of these a few months ago, after coveting it since we were kids. His reaction was to open the box, look at all the pieces, decide life was too short, and put it on a shelf to be sold on at a later date.
  • @adambourne5523
Ahh the good old days when GW said 'just buy jeweler's tools, don't you knw what pin-vice is?"
  • @dane1able
kills me people talk trash about tau when space marines aircraft looks like something a second grader built out of cardboard in art class. Nice job quickly becoming one of my favorite channels.
  • @Enhancedlies
Im from Nottingham, the birthplace of Warhammer. I used to go to the main workshop with my dad as his friend was apart of the management. This brought back OH so many memories of running around the large maps loosing my imagination for hours and hours haha
  • Great job on the assembly, but lordy that's an ugly model hahahaha. Kudos broski, thanks for putting in the effort and showing us what this thing actually looks like :-)
  • Extra strong Araldite is the product you were looking for. Couple drops of that stuff can hold a man up
  • @orestmikulin235
Building a little piece of history! Awesome work, thanks for putting in that massive effort, guys! Looking forward to seeing it painted!
