I maintain that us ppl raised in the 1970's and 1980's are thee "hippest" /"coolest" generation of mid-lifers of all time at this point (we will of course inevitably eventually be surpassed) and I think it's partially due to the fact that we grew up in the GOLDEN ERAS of toy production, youth recreation and pop culture. We grew up on Atari and Nintendo, and saw the emergence of many extremely awesome industries that are thriving in today's youth culture STILL like skateboarding, underground dancing like breakdancing, underground dance culture, etc etc. All those babies we now see in vintage reproductions of punk tees? Yeah, that's us too. It was SO cool to be a kid when all this stuff was thee NEW cool. Kaybee toy stores at the mall, Saturday morning cartoons ALL day EVERY Saturday. Sugar cereal BOOM! Casey Kassem weekly top 40, Kids Incorporated, Puttin On The Lips, etc, etc. Everyone is of course innately nostalgic about their childhood, but us 80's kids? We fricken SCOREDDDDDDDD in that lottery!
