I am an undergraduate studying music, and for our history requirements we had to learn chant, study the parts of the Mass, and learn religious polyphony up through the 16th century. I'm at a completely secular and very liberal university as well. My reaction was like what you discussed— "why did no one tell me about this, my beautiful Catholic heritage?!" I was astonished and overwhelmed with the richness of our tradition, and a bit angry that I'd never been taught about it before. Now I want to go into sacred music so I can help open that door for others. Edit: Wow I didn't know this was relatable to so many people haha. Thanks y'all

Loved what the cardinal said about putting ourselves in God's presence before we start praying. I get terribly distracted during prayer and I've started doing this recently. It has helped. Specifically, I imagine Jesus physically walking into the room and sitting next to me. This seems to keep me more focused than just imagining myself in a general holy atmosphere, so to speak.

True gem and vessel in our Holy Catholic Church, Cardinal Burke. You bring sacred tradition and Scripture without watering down the truth. So many infiltrated modernists at the moment.

  • I love cardinal burke...he is so sincere and fathful to the traditions handed down to us God bless you now and for always. Yours Joseph, from ireland
  • Suggestion to Matt: get Peter Kwasniewski on the program to talk about the Latin liturgies, especially the Mass. He has been studying them for decades. Suggestion to everyone: dip into Kwasniewski's books - it's likely to turn into a long dip :)
