  • 12:18 I don’t think I’m gonna get the image of Gollum taking a shit out of my head for a long time
  • @remavic
I could watch a 50 hour version of this with ease

17:20 nothing is greater than a group of orcs singing the New Zealand national anthem on a boat moments before they slaughter the Men of Gondor

Peter Jackson: "Nice Crispy bacon." Frodo: "Put it out you fools! Put it out!"

I love the fact they used CGI only in necessary cases. Miniatures, costumes, figurines, lava tables... I hope that this type of practical effects will return...

Making a film like this with a team is the experience of a lifetime...

58:55 "We're only here to do one here, that's tell a story. We're not here to make great effects, we're not here to do cool sound mixes. We're here to tell Peter's story and Tolkien's story. That's our only function." My, I just love that.

Gandalf: "Why can't I zap them? (with staff)" Peter Jackson: "Because your batteries are low and you're out of AA's." 🤣

From a die-hard LOTR fan, thank you to the unsung heroes behind the scenes that made these movies so EPIC!!!
  • just imagine Gandalf, in the midlle of the battle approaching an archer and says politely "not the towers. aim at the trolls"

I lost it when Christopher Lee started talking directly to the camera "There's something vaguely familiar about this situation...." and then I made the Dracula connection. Love it.

No wonder the film won 11 Oscars. The effort and passion put into making the movie was immeasureable. It's a good thing if was released 20 years ago. 10 years more, it'll all be CGI.

The way they did the lava at 1:47:10 is absolute genius, I always presumed it was all CG so seeing it was done practical blows my mind.

I can feel Peter’s stress... honestly grateful for all of the hard work these people did to give us these films!
  • @colincarr2052
I wish this was just being filmed and I could watch it all brand new.
  • Gandalf is the only man that needs to shave to grow a beard. Unreal how much work goes into something like this. Thank you, from the caterers to the guy whose skull they molded 20,000 times.
  • @natatatt
Incredible that the "lava" is a practical effect. I thought for sure that was CGI when I watched the movie.

Almost 2 hours and I don't even noticed the time flying by... That's Lord Of The Rings magic, it's subtle...
