My son die slowly from cancer, when the time came closer. Eventhough he was hooked up to everything I put earphones to his ear and played hero. They thought he couldn't hear anything they were wrong. I saw the tears flow from his eyes. I told him that he was my hero kissed him for the last time. I wish I see Mariah in person to tell her thank you

I'll never forget when I driving home at night during a tough time in my life. I became stuck in a vortex of deeply negative and suicidal thoughts. I wanted to crash my car and end it. Meanwhile, I was tuning out the radio this entire time, until suddenly this song came on. I hung on to every word. I also put a little more effort to get home safely. When I arrived home, I broke down and listened to the rest of it before going in the house. This moment was a miracle, and it brought me closer to God. I felt like something, someone sent this song in my darkest moment as an answer. And I'm so thankful this exists.

A lot of great female singers in my 69 years. Whitney, Barbara, Celine, etc. and I have all their songs. Karen Carpenter is my favorite based on how her voice just reaches into you when she sings. But this version of Hero and the intimacy of the setting is, in my opinion, the best live performance on YouTube....period!

This song was dedicated to me from an old customer of mine. I used to work at a full service gas station. The only woman working there at the time along with 4-5 guys. It was -15 degrees out. Dead middle of winter. The guys went in complaining it was too cold for them. I however stayed outside doing MY job and theirs. All the customers that came in that day couldn’t believe I stayed out to help them. For that reason and many others. Probably 5-6 years later. I went to a bar and had a few drinks. She just happened to be there. It was karaoke night. She dedicated this song to me and asked someone to sing it to me. In my honor. This will FOREVER be my favorite cherished song. I had to retire early due to medical issues. 😢 When I feel sad or overwhelmed. I play this song and think of that day and every other day where my customers showed me their appreciation. This song is just a reminder that people DO care about me. And I’m not alone❤ I believe the customer that dedicated this song to me has passed away. So this song holds a special memory for me. ❤️
