    You won't find a handyman that is bothered if you know about this.
  • why shouldn't you grind something up with a hand blender in a bowl or something similar, but put a little in the hollow of the hand blender and put a bag over it? if you don't just press down on it from above with the hand blender, but slowly move along the bottom, then the air flow from the rotation of the cutting blades will pull the material up and the bottom will also become smaller. Unless you keep pressing at the material from above. Then already chopped material will be pressed and almost nothing will happen. It's better to learn how to handle the stuff properly instead of using "tricks". Especially since most of these devices have several spaces at the front so that the material can be drained away (at least in theory), which of course makes this technique not really easy...
