"It's making a comeback"...meaning, thanks to this video, every mope at my 1-3 table is going to be check raising the flop tonight.

This is honestly the best video I have watched that you made. These observations you made are spot on to what I have been noticing are good check raise spots. Especially the part where you mention having backdoor flush and straight draws/overcards to continue. Also having a give up range when you don't hit those backdoors.

Great video, and appreciate sorting out the lighting issue. Great content as always. I like the CR at the low stakes bounty tournaments I play because the weak loose aggressive players there which make up the bulk it seems see it as a challenge and will regularly dump the entire stack in with only top pair... which makes me playing most trips, 2 pair, and some combo flush/straight hand plenty of bounties. Like everything though - do it too often and it becomes exploitable. Cheers!

You were the man on TV that first got me interested in playing poker. You, David Sklansky, Dan Harrington and Johnathan Little have helped refine my game. And Greg Merson was the man who inspired me in all aspects of life, not just poker, to NEVER give up or despair. I still struggle with the despair part, but I never give up. Thank you so much for this almost 20 year journey so far, Daniel, and thank you for continuing to teach me. Peace, DNegs.
  • Daniel, this is one of the best, most insightful coaching videos, you have made. Looking forward to more of those. Thank you and GL in your next tournaments, I will be watching you on PokerGO :)

Daniel negreanu has been my favorite poker player since i started watching and playing poker back in 2003-2004 when moneymake and gregg raymer won the wsop and made poker way more famous. it only took a few months of watching before it became clear that daniel was on a different level than ALL of the other players. have been a big fan ever since. Daniel, u are an inspiration.

Really outstanding video. I think you have a great skill of combining theory and exploit. My impression is you really got into the to GTO lab a few years ago to battle with the newer high stakes player and especially in your heads up challenge with Doug Polk. Your weaving of range, balance, and sizing concepts with self and opponent awareness in this video is the outstanding. Many thanks for the content.

Hope to see you in Toronto. Haven’t been in a Casino in years, but for the 3 hour drive going to see how I do in a couple of the tournaments.

Love the mention of limit. You and I played a few times in the 90s in Toronto, underground clubs - where every other club owner's name was Sam. Simpler times and even simpler opponents. ;)

I love how clearly you can break down these analytical concepts and strategic ideas. Poker isn't mechanical, so I need practise to apply this correctly, but I feel I have the conceptual framework now to practice and learn how to employ and respond to the flop check-raise.

Grateful for this video. You discuss much more than just what the title implies. You really got into all post-flop action.
  • Daniel, I played in a free tournament a while ago. I had a very aggressive opponent, who raised every single hand. I knew his style I had pocket tens under the gun he raised, and the player that was folding every single hand re-raised all in. I looked at my tens and decided that they were no good. The aggressor had ace five off suit, and the guy that was folding every single hand had pocket kings. Of course he hit the set on the river and I was happy I saved money

I think it's really great when someone highly successful in his chosen field reaches out to help others learn. I follow you and a few others and have found my game has improved immensely. Last weekend I took second after 9 hours in a 100 person NL tournament and was really proud of myself.....even if I choked at the end after starting heads up with over twice the amount of chips. I find your enthusiasm and outlook on life to be highly motivating. But I'm never going vegan! 🙂
