We have tried many times, in the end they will waive buyer fees and leave themselves with profit and getting paid under the table. This unfortunately doesn’t just happen in Adesa, it’s a continuous practice in most auctions and especially In Manheim. Some of these auctioneers been around for very long time and have personal relationships with dealers.

I don't what lanes your'e buying out of at ADESA, but I do know that the big auto groups like Norm Reeves, Penske etc... don't send their reps to the auction block with a wad of cash to "grease' the auctioneers, that's old school wholesaler shit, and those guys are starting to die on the vine because the auctions have gotten very aggressive in getting the trades from the auto groups with a lot of incentives etc... that the wholesalers could never match, and by showing these auto groups how much money they were losing by selling to wholesalers directly. So, yes, the auctions do favor the seller in order to get as much inventory as they can to give buyers more product to buy. Sellers fees have been stable, no-sale fees are gone, but buyers fees keep increasing. Because there seems to be more and more buyers while inventory supplies are stagnant. BTW, if you didn't notice, most of the remaining old school wholesalers aren't buying cars to resell at the auction anymore, they're schlepping at the block for the big auto groups too, on a per car flat fee.

Yes you need a license and it’s nothing but scam central now. The auctioneers are paid by larger dealers and arbitration always agora the big sellers. You can buy cars cheaper on the outside and bring them to these places to sell. Don’t waste your time health and money. You will regret being in this business. After 27 years I finally quit.
