If only the rain would’ve been predicted days in advance. Oh wait.. it was

That area has flooded so many times, this is no surprise. Why would you build a campground in a known flood area? What is Huset’s emergency management plan for the campground?

Judging by the space, it looks like a lot of people did leave. Quite often people will park their RV at events well ahead of time, so they get a spot, and leave it there. Then come back for the event. That plan bit them in the butt this time.

Probably don't really have one. But the fact that the race track is in a flood plain is probably a good reason why the racetrack is still.even up and running.

Gross neglect on the RV owners part. They could have moved their campers . If they wanted. There was no excuse for this much insurance claims. If I had heard that the rivers were rising I'd have moved mine regardless.

Sad to see that happen. Better add life boat and survival gear to take along to Husset 's next time.

I was watching the Wednesday night race on TV thinking about how high the water in the creek looked. Actually literally thought about the possibility of flooding overnight while watching. I’m 250 miles northeast and getting the same storm systems as Husets a half day later. Something similar happened last week. A country music festival turned into a mud bog and local farmers came to the rescue. We typically only get this kind of flooding in the spring with snow melt. I think they got caught by surprise by late June flooding. It’s a damned if you do, damned if you don’t scenario with big outdoor events. People like camping by lakes and rivers so I can’t fault anyone for that. Bad situation for any outdoor event when we get a summer like this. Management are good people and I trust they will sort things out.
  • 😢😢😢very sad indeed 😢😢😢 how much good water gone wasted 😢😢😢instead of saving it for the dry season and for those areas suffering extreme draught😢😢😢very sad watching poor people dealing with weather gone insane disasters. We have to stay united and prevent such disasters from now on , we have the scientific knowledge, skills tools and technologies to fight back this extreme climate change, neutralize pollution and bring down the heat😢😢😢

dont these ppl with the rv campers watch weather forcast!!!!
  • @mfgc2610
That is millions of $$$ worth of RVs...

"At least the campers are safe...." Losing an RV like that is losing a huge amount of money. Bad idea to allow people to camp next to that speedway as it is in an area that floods easily. Record-level for Split Rock Creek is 98.47 feet (which was reached in 2014). Anything over 89 feet is action-level flooding. In 2018 the second highest level was reached on this creek when it went to 96.66 feet after 3 inches of rain. Hopefully in the future, people will decide to camp somewhere else when they go to attend that Husks Speedway event.
