  • Good morning GBU crew!!! alright.. my mom has been talking too much trash about the pergola pronunciation 😅😂 let's settle the debate once and for all!! Type 1 for per-goh-luh 2 for per-guh-luh
  • @Bebethusa
I really love that you have your wife’s back. Me as a video creator and editor know how much time and hours it takes to get a 30 minutes video done. Not to mention that she’s probably the one, cooking, cleaning, doing the dishes, laundry, feeding the animals, recording (and getting the cinematic shots), organizing, talking to the sponsors, doing all the work for patrions, getting all the administrative work done and the list goes on..This is how not only a team but a functional family works and that’s the reason I love this channel and have been working hard to also buy my land and have my Farm in Puerto Rico one day. ❤
  • Highly recommend installing diagonal braces at the tops from the columns to the rafters.
  • @jimshanks9495
Safety glasses? How about a simple pair of swimming goggles???? Protects your eyes. Doesn't fog up, (as long as you spit in them first and flush it out with a little water. Will not obstruct your breathing, eyebrows, speaking !!!!! Sunblock>>> for the back of your neck.

Matt is a Machine! Considering that he is learning as he does this, he is doing an amazing job! As Always, May God Bless you and yours! 😇
  • Once again you killed it, Matt and Kristen !! I love that You have your wife’ back the way you do. Some of the comments last week were absolutely ludicrous and unfair to your wife. The two of you are absolutely doing a fabulous job and don’t let anyone tell you differently. God bless and stay safe and thanks for another awesome video !! ❤✌🏼😎🍻🍻🥇🥇🥇
  • Matt ive been a carpenter since i was 16yrs old i started as a helper im now 62 and given u have little carpentry exp u have done a awsome job on everything u have done on yaws property you both work well together and make a great team as long as yaw 27:46 like what u build that is all that matters❤
  • @budm9982
You got this one knocked out and a plan for further on the pergola. Good job! Matt, you're a beast. Kristen, great job editing.
  • Kristen is adorable, and I love how Matt is always ready to protect her from any harm including negative comments. Husbands are supposed to do that. Good job, Matt!
  • @MausMasher54
Uh, did you forget about all the Creepie/Crawlies that will snuggle into the new overhead accommodations???? Solar Panels for the Roof next???? A Sandblasters' Helmut would work....Now all you need is a gutter for rainwater recovery????
  • @wkw4095
Looks great. No need to cut the back side of the roof. Best to have rain runoff as far away from the footings and entire area. Unless you install a gutter...a gutter with a rain catch basin. ;)
  • Matt you and Kristen should be proud of yourselves with what you have achieved.Good on you.And I wish people would praise both of your accomplishments
  • You guys are bad asses strait up! Been following for about 2 years now, and I am amazed every week on the progress you guys make without a home Depot or Lowe's etc... within a block from you. Keep it up.
  • It looks beautiful. You two are a great team. Love your videos and I look forward to them on Sunday morning.
  • turned out awesome, and now y'all can chill outside on your future porch in the rain and the kitty cats will love it as well. great job guys!
  • @soveriegnborn
Remember Shakespeare who said Their is a divinity that shapes our ends rough hew it as we will. Kristen does a beautiful job shaping the ends while you are roughing it in.Great team always enjoy the banter.
  • Love the look. We have a screen room we made and it has a metal roof. What we did was use a single layer reed fencing and under it or in your case on top of the reed we put a single layer of yard cloth to hide the sight of the metal, as we only have one layer of reed allowable in our budget. Also, having exposed beams allows for hammocks or hammock chairs. Later on you can go back from the underside and staple any areas that may sag. You should of had them back the truck up to the pergola and unload them directly on the roof. But it is looking awesome, beautiful job. On a side note don't cut off the back as the rain water that comes off will start making a trough in the dirt below. So the closer to the house then you will have another issue to address. Unless you have another plan to address any future problems. Your going to really like it if you have to walk around it in the rain.
  • @ki6hzs
That thatching is going to sag down, eventually falling down. I had done something very similar, it will hold its own weight for a while, eventually will fail to do so and come down. Maybe run something across under it, baling wire? Something to keep it from starting to sag. Looks amazing, love the framing. Metal roof will last forever as long as it’s anchored down well. Property is coming together👍🏼 Love your content, keep it up. John
  • @davidkeys1879
The reeds were a great idea. They look great! Some 1 by 2 under them, nailed to the purlins will also help keep them from sagging.
  • @kenberger1814
I really like the reed idea! I would close in the ends above the reeds or you will have a critter haven. All kinds of nests, Bees, birds, snakes!
