i really wanted to write out dia and xiao's dynamic, what they think about eachother, etc for some wholesomeness :] read below for the context / dynamic and press the flag for a wholesome 5 minute drawing of the two !!!

dia @ xiao: when dia introduced herself to xiao, she begun hanging out with him out of pity at first, as he was as reserved and quiet as he is today. they soon became really close and they always hung out together, and dia became a close confidante of xiao as well. after hearing about xiao's difficulties and sacrifices, she made a promise to help him through his pain and keep him safe. as they entered their later years (between 12-14 yrs), dia felt as if she was starting to catch feelings. but, she simply tried to brush it off and think of it as just brotherly love, nothing more. this is why she can seem oblivious when asked about her love life, as she just tries to brush away the feeling. although, it is hinted at that dia acknowledges her feelings ;D it's also noted that xiao is dear to dia and she feels the need to care for him and protect him because of this (<333)

xiao @ dia: at first, xiao thought of dia as rambunctious and in general, a rather strange mortal. he was reluctant to consider dia a friend based on the events of his past (which i won't say bc spoilers), but eventually he warmed up to her. xiao grew a soft spot for dia and confided in her about [spoilers]. during their later years (12-14, around the same time as dia) xiao felt like he was developing feelings for dia. but, he wasn't that well-versed in human psychology or emotions in general being a yaksha, so he had trouble putting his feelings into words. but, it's heavily hinted at in his voicelines to the traveler (yes i made these two voicelines
so in general they're wholesome and basically a couple JUST TELL EACHOTHER ALREADYAYDADASKAM slow burn hours real
