What is happening with the wild horses near Heber, Arizona? They live in the beautiful, Ponderosa Pine country of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, in Mogollon Rim country, west of the town of Show Low, east of the town of Payson, not far from Heber, the high country of Arizona, snow-country this time of year. They have lived there for roughly 500 years, thriving and are not competition to cattle, elk or deer, not over-populated, not starving, but maintainers of the range, a Keystone species.
